Performance awards to Diagram employees

Diagram Healthcare awards for Best Practices & Efficiency at the Workplace, go to two young employees, one from Nursing and the other from Bio-medical Engineering. Sr Monisha M L, among the youngest in the Nursing Department, showed great committment, through the month, taking on responsibility with flair. 'Her approach to outpatients and inpatients alike is commendable,' stated Sujay Shyamanoor, MD, Diagram Healthcare while presenting the outstanding acheiver with a Certificate of Appreciation. Equally commendable was BioMedical Engineer Manisha Hegadi's efforts whose initiative on the job helped her edge out fellow contenders. 'Manisha's communication skills, her diligence at work and her good inter-personal skills are of high standards,' stated Mrs Shyamanoor while explaining to staff members during the recently held staff meeting at Diagram Healthcare's newly opened block, the criteria for the awards. 

Diagram Healthcare's new wing is now open to Out-patients. The three-floor structure will shortly see opening of the admissions/inpatient wing and the Operating theatres and ICU on the second and third floors respectively.

Dermatology workshop refreshing

Will shampooing my hair daily, result in hair loss? How often should I use hair oil? How do I know which soap is good for my face? Some of the questions that Dermatologist Dr.Suraj Sachindanand was asked during the skin and hair care workshop conducted at Diagram Healthcare recently, to help break widely held myths on skin and hair care and extend professional advice on the subject.

“Only one or two soaps in India are tested and approved by a Dermatologist” stated Dr.Suraj adding, “Most soap and shampoo advertisements are misleading”. To a question from younger folk in the audience on how to prevent skin from tanning, Dr.Suraj pointed out the importance of using a sunscreen lotion. “It is extremely important to protect skin from the sun especially between 9.30 am-4.30 pm. Sunscreen may be applied once in two hours; if indoors, once in fours is good enough.”

Is long hair better or short hair? The Dermatologist explained that this largely depends on how well one can maintain hair. Oiling one’s hair at least 2-3 times a week, keeping it on for not more than 4 hours before shampooing, is recommended. Keeping oiled hair overnight, may result in fungal infection.

Questions were also asked on aging skin, onset of skin cancer, psoriasis, hydration and more.  The basket of tomatoes placed alongside the doctor raised a lot of curiosity - pieces of tomato were passed around for the participants to rub on the face and see the results! 'Tomatoes and cucumbers are good natural remedies but the effect is temporary'. Lotions and pastes are a better option, concluded Dr Suraj.

The 30 odd invitees expressed satisfaction at the programme and requested for a similar program in the coming month.  

  

Old World Values are key

During an orientation session for incoming teams from various departments, Bio Medical, Hospitality and Public Relations, Sujay Shyamanoor, MD, explained the importance of a healthy organisational culture.

'Thirty years ago, when my father, Dr KNB Setty started up a diagnostic and healthcare centre in Mekhri Circle, one that was for long regarded as the first and only healthcare entity in Bangalore North, personal relationships with clients, consultants and co-workers were uppermost.' The Administrator drew from her own working experience in the UK, during the 90s, where one-to-one relationships with patients/clients was an integral part of the work culture there.

'Today, 3 decades later, it is the old-world values that Diagram Healthcare has inherited and continues to cherish,' Ms Shyamanoor stated, explaining that with all the new age technology and advancement, sensitivity to the individual can never be compromised.

The new teams have been inducted into Diagram Healthcare in keeping with the recent expansion of the healthcare entity. Diagram Healthcare was incorporated as a core specialties hospital in 2011.
